Watch how you actually operate. You feel good after the meeting. After the workout. After the talk lands and people clap. The win always shows up in the replay, never in the moment you are standing in. I lived there for years. Always performing, waiting on confirmation that arrived late and faded fast. Achievement is not the problem. Deferring the feeling is. The moment in front of you is the only one that ever counted.
Decide The State. Do Not Wait For It
One word changed how I show up: “EXPANSIVE”. Open chest. Longer stride. Nothing clenched. I used to wait for that feeling to arrive at the end of a session, like a reward for surviving it. Now I drop into it before I start. That is the entire shift. Your team feels the difference. Your family feels it. You feel it. You do not earn the state by finishing the task. You choose the state, then let the result follow.
The Experience Starts At Word One
I used to burn the opening minutes of every talk warming up. Setting context. Circling the point before I made it. No more. The experience starts at word one now. People do not remember your slides or your sentences. They remember how you made them feel in the room. So I drop them in from the first breath, and the work is already done before they notice it started. Word one is where trust gets built or lost.
